Coming Against Your Spiritual Giants

11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.  (Ephesians 6:11-14)

Somewhere along your journey you will come against many spiritual giants as you go about doing the good works God has prepared in advance for you to do (Eph.2:10).  These giants come standing to intimidate you.  It's not a personal battle but a spiritual one. This fight has little to do with you but everything to do with Who resides in you!  The enemy despises God.  Therefore he desires to disgrace Him by utilizing what God has created to bring honor to Himself: YOU!

David as a young boy had the responsibility to tend his father’s sheep in the wilderness. In that place he was being trained.  When a lion and bear came after the sheep he went after it, struck it and rescued the sheep from its mouth.  When it came after him he seized it by its hair, struck it and killed it.  (1 Sam. 17:34-35)

David’s training positioned him for a greater task.  Goliath was no match for this young man because he possessed courage, boldness and moreover he possessed a relationship with God! His confidence did not come in the form of his accomplishments but it was in the knowing and trusting in God!  Therefore despite the threats of this giant, he stood his ground telling Goliath that his words will come back to him.  And it sure did!

Saul was concerned for David and tried to dress him for the battle.  But David could not move in another mans armor.  He had the understanding that the only battle dress he stands in needing is the armor of God.  (read Eph.6)

As Goliath came at him with sword, spear and javelin - David went charging forth in the NAME OF THE LORD.  He also declared “This day the LORD will deliver you into my hand, and I will strike you and take your head from you.” (1 Sam.17:46a).  He decree his judgment “And this day I will give the carcasses of the camp of the Philistines to the birds of the air and the wild beasts of the earth, that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel. (1 Sam. 17:46b)

The very weapon that was meant to kill David – was the very weapon David used to kill him! And he made sure that victory was complete by cutting off his head.

What is your giant? Whatever it may be take hold of how David slew his.  First of all you must have your own relationship with the LORD.  Secondly you need to recognize that you cannot dress yourself in someone else’s battle dress.  Meaning you cannot walk in their anointing, imitate their tongues (heavenly language) or cookie cut how they do spiritual warfare. We need to put on the armor of God and understand that scripture accompanied by faith is our weapon.  Without it, all our shouting, threats, declaration and decrees to the enemy will fail and leave you exhausted! Thirdly, we must not run away with our tails between our legs. The enemies threats is just that a threat.  We on the other hand have a promise that any weapons formed against us shall not prosper! Therefore we can go to battle with confidence that every threat will be turned back to him.

WE GO FORTH IN THE NAME OF THE LORD. And just like David, we CAN declare “This day the LORD will deliver you into my hand, and I will strike you and take your head from you.” (1 Sam.17:46a) We CAN decree his judgment “And this day I will give the carcasses of the camp of the Philistines to the birds of the air and the wild beasts of the earth, that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel.

Cut the head off of that spiritual giant once and for all!!!  For the battle is the LORD’s and He will give your spiritual giants into your hands!

The LORD Is OUR ROCK in our sling!!

"my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation. He is my stronghold, my refuge and my savior-- from violent people you save me." ~ 2 Sam. 22:3
